Honoring the past is essential. We celebrate the sacrifices, faith, and passion of the pioneers who came before us — their faithfulness yesterday inspires our obedience today.

But how do we honor the faith of the past while also preparing the next generation of pastors, missionaries, and ministers who will proclaim the gospel in the future?

1) Put Mission Above Methods

Methods are the way we do ministry: our traditions, programs, and cultural preferences. They are good, but they are not sacred. The mission, on the other hand, is eternal: to reach those who are far from God and make disciples (Matthew 28:19). When methods become more important than the mission, we confuse the temporary with the eternal.

Jesus lived this tension. He never allowed human customs or expectations to distract Him from His purpose: to seek and save the lost (Luke 19:10). He healed on the Sabbath and spent time with the marginalized. The method changed, but the mission remained intact.

Raising the next generation of Hispanic leaders means equipping them to hold firmly to the mission while innovating in their methods. This generation needs to know they have permission to use different approaches — as long as the purpose remains reaching those who do not yet know Christ.

2) Anticipate the Current Move of God

Without realizing it, we can fall into what might be called a museum mentality. Museums preserve history — they display artifacts from the past, carefully protected behind glass. They reflect what once was, guardians of past victories, rather than participating in the way God is currently moving.

We must ask: “How can we best fulfill the great commission today?” If we are intentional about creating spaces where young people can dream, grow, and even fail — without fear of being judged for doing things differently — we will see exponential growth in the number of young leaders who embrace ministry, the church, missions, and the pastorate.

Let us impart the Pentecostal fire that sets us apart, forming young people who love the Word, who value prayer, and who live filled with the Spirit.

Levantando a la Próxima Generación de Líderes

Honrar el pasado es esencial. Celebramos los sacrificios, la fe y la pasión de los pioneros que nos antecedieron; su fidelidad de ayer inspira nuestra obediencia hoy.

¿Pero cómo honramos la fe del pasado y, a la vez, preparamos a la próxima generación de pastores, misioneros y ministros que proclamarán el evangelio en el futuro?

1) Poner la Misión por encima de los Métodos

Los métodos son la manera en que hacemos ministerio: nuestras tradiciones, programas y preferencias culturales. Son buenos, pero no son sagrados. La misión, en cambio, es eterna: Alcanzar a los que están lejos de Dios y hacer discípulos (Mateo 28:19). Cuando los métodos se vuelven más importantes que la misión, confundimos lo temporal con lo eterno.

Jesús vivió esta tensión. Nunca permitió que las costumbres o expectativas humanas lo distrajeran de Su propósito: buscar y salvar a los perdidos (Lucas 19:10). Sanó en día de reposo, y pasó tiempo con los marginados. El método cambió, pero la misión se mantuvo intacta.

Levantar a la siguiente generación de líderes hispanos implica capacitarlos para aferrarse a la misión mientras innovan en los métodos. Esta generación necesita saber que tiene permiso para usar métodos diferentes, con el propósito de seguir alcanzando a quienes no conocen a Cristo.

2) Anticipar el mover actual de Dios

Sin darnos cuenta, podemos caer en lo que podríamos llamar una mentalidad de museo. Renewed Calling: Rekindling Passion and Purpose After Ministry Burnout

Invitation to a Revolution

When did we get boring? When did we decide that good enough was enough? When did we decide dying faithfully mattered more than living faithfully? How did we get here?

We come from a rich heritage that breaks down barriers, surpasses expectations, and does what has never been done before. Somehow, we have allowed ourselves to be tamed… domesticated. However, the wild and unbridled nature of the Holy Spirit is still surging within us, longing to move us past the natural and experience the supernatural.

As Pentecostals, our roots take us back to when Agnes Ozman courageously stepped into something new when she was the first to speak in tongues as a part of the revival in Topeka, Kansas that sparked so many others.

William Seymour stepped into a new environment to do something new in the Kingdom of God. Racism kept him from the classroom, so he listened from the hallway.

The Azusa Street Revival was the epicenter of the new things God was doing, marked by cultural and ethnic diversity almost unheard of in those days.

Our Pentecostal heritage is all about moving into the new things that God has for us.

In the Assemblies of God, our foundations were laid by men and women willing to do what had never been done before.

The first Christian radio and TV stations were started by AG Ministers. Assemblies of God ministers revolutionized Christian education with one of the world’s first distance learning programs. They pioneered ministry to the deaf, blind, and those with special needs. One AG Minister reshaped how we think about freedom from addiction, developing strategies to help people escape their life-controlling issues. The Assemblies of God has led in changing the way the world does missions, by training those from the culture to be reached how to connect the Gospel to their own culture, in its own way.

As Hispanics in the Assemblies of God, we are blessed to have our own set of pioneers and trailblazers.

Dr. Jesse Miranda raised the bar for the educational expectations and visibility of Hispanic ministers.

Jose Giron and Demetrio Bazan pushed our movement beyond its early boundaries. Giron had the vision and strength to multiply leaders and divide authority, and Bazan followed God’s call in a dream to leave Texas and plant a church in Denver—propelling us outward with purpose.

And a 14-year-old boy in Ricardo, Texas, who had only been saved for 10 days, started the whole thing when he heard God call him to reach Hispanics with the Gospel. He went from house to house saying the only thing he knew how to say in Spanish: “Domingo, por la tarde, en la escuela.”

We have the spiritual DNA of giants and heroes running through our veins. Our predecessors never looked at what was and left it that way. They created new realities. Brave men and women have sown tears, and even their own blood to get us where we are today, and it would be the ultimate disrespect toward them if we choose to live and lead as domesticated preachers and Believers.

There are times when we worry about stepping beyond our traditions, but we come from a long line of innovators and pioneers. Innovation is our tradition. Unconventional is our tradition. Doing a new thing is our tradition. We were born with an identity to step out and step in to something new. We were created with the fingerprints of boldness and courage pressed into us. To do anything less than push beyond the status quo would be a violation of our heritage and who God created us to be.

Through the creation of the AG Hispanic REACH Center, we step into this moment — a spark with the potential to light a new fire and ignite the flames of innovation and advancement like we have not yet seen in our generation. We have the potential to embark on something new and join those giants of the faith who have done the impossible before us.

We cannot wait for a hero of mythological status to arise and stand for us, so we must determine amongst ourselves that we will stand together. Together, we can do more than we could ever do separately. “We” is always greater than “me.” If we will set our eyes on the possibilities of our unity, we can see miracles take place.

If this sounds like the language of a revolution, that is because that is precisely what it is. This is not an invitation to rebel against the governing authorities above us, but a clarion call to revolt against isolation and narrowed vision. This revolution is about returning to the boldness of our roots. This revolution is about embracing the innovative and creative nature of our foundational leaders. This is a revolution against average… against mere survival.

This is a revolution against the natural so that we can embrace and inhabit the supernatural. As we stand together under the umbrella of the AG Hispanic REACH Center, we unite to see healthy pastors leading healthy churches and impacting their communities for Christ. This is the supernatural revolution to return to our roots and walk together in unity that we need, and it is the one I believe we will see.

Beyond the Paradigm: Leading Generational Change

Ministry today is more challenging than ever, but we are not starting from scratch. We are building on the legacy of those who were faithful before us. However, in the midst of a changing world, it is worth asking ourselves: Is the greatest obstacle to the future growth of our churches not a loss of mission, but the paradigms we unwittingly cling to?

Many of our ministry structures, designed with good intentions in another era, may be hindering the development of the next generation of bilingual and bicultural leaders God is raising up today. We honor the past, but we must also look to the future.

Are we willing to consider a paradigm shift that honors our roots while boldly embracing the diversity of our present and future communities?

Our well-thought-out and well-written bylaws, vision, values, and mission statements are clear; but our paradigms often resonate more. Despite the documents that guide us, pastors and ministers often operate from an unwritten paradigm passed down by previous generations, which reflects more than our theological beliefs; it also encompasses elements of personal conviction, values, and culture. The paradigms within our churches shape our approach to ministry and play a key role in the future of our congregations. As Mark Lau Branson suggests, without self-awareness, we risk misinterpreting others and underestimating the influence of our heritage on our perceptions, thinking, and actions.

Perhaps it is time to reinterpret what successful, fruitful, and relevant ministry looks like in the context of the next generation. The next generation offers new perspectives shaped by diverse cultural experiences. They appreciate their Hispanic heritage, traditions, language, and values, but many think, speak, and dream in English. Our younger generation loves mom's chilaquiles on Sunday afternoons, but they're equally happy eating a slice of pepperoni pizza after church. At home, their parents remind them to respectfully greet their elders with a firm handshake, but at school, they're more likely to hear a casual "What's up?" or a quick fist bump. Many speak Spanish fluently when talking to their parents or ordering conchas at the local bakery; however, in class discussions, group projects, and social media posts, English is their preferred language. Our young people embody two worlds and try to honor both without feeling they have to choose one over the other.

What can we do? Work to close the cultural gap between generations, particularly by addressing the shift from Spanish to English, which is increasingly dominant among younger members. Affirming these cultural shifts among our emerging leaders creates connection. Affirming the changing culture doesn't mean abandoning doctrine; instead, it involves transmitting it in a way that resonates effectively. Our young people seek mentors who are committed to guidance, not control. If we invest time, listen well, and model faith in action, Generation Z will feel seen, supported, and connected. The church thrives when tradition blends with innovation.

The Reach Center seeks to provide training, mentoring, encouragement, and a strong community support network designed for the next generation of Hispanic ministers who understand the unique challenges and opportunities of leading in a bilingual and multicultural context.

Ministerial Resilience

When was the last time you thought about giving up on your ministry call?

Some ministers contemplate quitting ministry every Monday! Others have thought of leaving ministry at the onset of recurring conflicts. These, and other circumstances lead many to give up on ministry. Yet, others consider stepping away from ministry when they are unable to overcome their personal struggles. Leaders are not exempted from humanbrokenness expressed through personal insecurities, feelings of inferiority, and the need for love often seduces ministers to abandon their spiritual gifts and their ministry call for short-lived physical, sexual, emotional, or financial gratification as well.

Some blindsided by personal brokenness may ignore early signs, keeping them hidden or believing they can overcome them on their own. But many ministers lack the personal training to prevail over their brokenness. Consequently, they do not seek help. On the other hand, some who are aware of their personal issues lack the tools to overcome them. These ministers and pastors lead the church. The church of Jesus Christ in the twenty-first century like the church in the first century will continue to be led by fallible God-fearing women and men. They will continue to serve in their communities knowing they have a call of God in their lives. They must do ministry resiliently.

What is Resiliency?

In an interview with Rich Heffern, Robert J. Wicks explains that resiliency is “The ability to meet, learn from,and not be crushed by the challenges and stresses of life.” 1 Pliability, flexibility, elasticity, suppleness, bounciness,springiness, hardiness, toughness, and strength—each synonym of resilience suggests the ability to endurepressures, stresses, and challenges such as the trials of ministry. After all, ministry requires resilience to carry on longterm. Timothy, the young pastor of the church in Ephesus, received the charge to keep his head in all situations, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, and discharge all the duties of his ministry (2 Tim. 4:5). [2] This charge must be accomplished, and it would be most effective once the pastor is able to identify those elements in his character, and life that will undermine success.

The Reach Center

It is the Assemblies of God Hispanic vision-hub facilitating opportunities and resources for the twenty-first century Hispanic ministers. Its commitment to lifelong ministry, which stands as foundation to the fact that every statistic is a pastor with a calling, a congregation with potential and a community waiting to be transformed. The Reach Center Resiliency initiative strengthens the commitment to help build thriving communities of Latino Assemblies of God pastors in every District. Women and man who are equipped, supported, and inspired throughout their ministry journey.

The reach center through the resiliency initiative commits to partner with pastors, and ministers for lifelong ministry success. To that end, we encourage pastors to engage in this personal resiliency initiative, while their umbrella districts identify and equips resiliency trainers, who in turn will help ministers and pastors learn to address personal issues at the beginning of their ministry calling, securing ministerial longevity for local churches.

Preparing the Next Generation: There is No Success without a Successor

One of the greatest satisfactions of ministry is knowing that the evangelistic progress we've achieved will outlive us. The church that was once planted with great effort and many tears will remain open and relevant as long as the pastor takes care to prepare successors who will continue to carry on the vision.

As in a relay race, the runner carries the baton, an element that represents the fluid transition between runners and continuity, and carefully passes it to the next team member. In ministry, the baton is the burning torch of the gospel. The pastor is the lead runner who trains those who will follow and allows them to run alongside him or her so as not to lose momentum. At the opportune moment, the next runner takes the torch and continues.

The sustainability of each congregation depends on the ability to prepare others for the Great Commission. We have the supreme example in our Lord Jesus Christ, who prepared twelve disciples to begin the great task of evangelizing humanity. In John 14:12, Jesus told them: “Most assuredly, I say to you, whoever believes in me, the works that I do will he do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to the Father.” Jesus knew that the Great Commission would require the message to be preached to the ends of the earth, so many messengers would have to be trained to multiply themselves.

Today, the Lord calls us to multiply and to continue the process that began with Christ to our present: from Christ to his disciples, from the disciples to Barnabas, from Barnabas to Paul, from Paul to Timothy and many trusted people such as Lydia, Phoebe, Titus, Priscilla, and Aquila, and from them to us. In this way, the Church has remained alive in every generation.

Dear Pastor, what are you doing to prepare your successor? I encourage you not to limit yourself. Multiply yourself into many and send them forth. Trust that they will do greater things in Jesus' name.

The Importance of Intercultural Awareness in Our Churches

Intercultural awareness in churches today refers to the intentional recognition, understanding, and appreciation of the diverse cultural backgrounds represented within a congregation or community. It goes beyond mere tolerance—it involves fostering authentic relationships, respectful dialogue, and inclusive practices that reflect the unity and diversity of the Body of Christ.

In our increasingly globalized world, churches are becoming more culturally diverse. People from different nations, ethnic groups, languages, traditions, and worldviews are gathering under one roof to worship. This diversity is both a gift and a responsibility. Intercultural awareness means acknowledging that each culture brings unique expressions of faith, worship styles, theological perspectives, and community values. These differences can enrich the church but also create challenges that require spiritual maturity, humility, and intentional discipleship.

Intercultural awareness in the church is rooted in biblical principles. Scripture teaches that all people are created in the image of God (Genesis 1:27), and the gospel is for every nation, tribe, people, and language (Revelation 7:9).

The Apostle Paul emphasized the breaking down of cultural and ethnic barriers in Christ, stating, “There is neither Jew nor Gentile, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus” (Galatians 3:28). The early church itself was an intercultural community, learning to navigate the tensions between Jews, Gentiles, Greeks, Romans, and others through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Intercultural awareness today calls churches to examine their leadership structures, worship practices, teaching methods, and community outreach to ensure they are not unintentionally favoring one culture over others. It means creating space for diverse voices in decision-making, incorporating different cultural expressions in worship and music, and learning from the lived experiences of others. It involves addressing implicit biases, dismantling systemic inequalities, and promoting reconciliation where historical wounds exist.

Churches that are interculturally aware intentionally cultivate environments where all people feel seen, heard, and valued. This may include offering services in multiple languages, celebrating different cultural holidays, forming multicultural small groups, or providing educational resources on cultural competency and anti-racism. Leaders often need to be equipped with training in cross-cultural communication and conflict resolution.

Intercultural awareness impacts mission and evangelism. Churches that are culturally sensitive are better equipped to share the gospel in ways that are contextually appropriate and respectful. They are also more likely to engage in meaningful partnerships with global and local communities, moving away from a colonial mindset toward one of mutual learning and collaboration.

Intercultural awareness in churches today is about honoring the mosaic of God’s people. It requires an ongoing commitment to learning, listening, and loving across cultural lines. When embraced fully, it leads to a more vibrant, unified, and prophetic witness to the world—a glimpse of the heavenly kingdom where all nations worship before the throne of God together in harmony.

Intercultural awareness in the church is not just a modern idea—it's deeply biblical and essential for healthy, Christ-centered communities. Here's why it's important and how it impacts the life and mission of the church:ch:

1. Reflects the Kingdom of God

Biblical Foundation: Revelation 7:9 describes a heavenly vision of “a great multitude... from every nation, tribe, people and language” worshiping before the throne of God.
Why It Matters: Intercultural awareness helps the church reflect the diversity of God’s Kingdom here on earth.

2. Promotes Unity in Diversity

Biblical Reference: Ephesians 4:3 – “Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.”
Why It Matters: Acknowledging and respecting cultural differences reduces misunderstandings and strengthens unity among believers.

3. Fulfills the Great Commission

Biblical Reference: Matthew 28:19 – “Go and make disciples of all nations...”
Why It Matters: To effectively evangelize and disciple across cultures, churches must be aware of cultural contexts and values.

4. Encourages Mutual Learning and Growth

Practical Impact: Different cultures bring unique worship styles, expressions of faith, and community practices.
Why It Matters: Exposure to diverse perspectives enriches the church and fosters humility, empathy, and spiritual depth.

5. Builds Stronger Community Relationships

Example: Churches in multicultural neighborhoods have the opportunity to serve more effectively when they understand their communities.
Why It Matters: It improves outreach, social justice efforts, and relationships with local groups.

How Churches Can Grow in Intercultural Awareness:

Listen to and learn from people of different cultures.
Include diverse voices in leadership and decision-making.
Celebrate cultural events and traditions with biblical sensitivity.
Offer training on cultural competency and anti-racism.
Preach and teach messages that affirm God’s love for all nations.

Resilencia Ministerial

¿Cuándo fue la última vez que pensó en renunciar a su llamado ministerial?

¡Algunos ministros contemplan dejar el ministerio cada lunes! Otros han pensado en abandonar el ministerio al inicio de conflictos recurrentes. Estas y otras circunstancias llevan a muchos a renunciar al ministerio. Aun así, otros consideran alejarse del ministerio cuando no son capaces de superar sus luchas personales. Los líderes no están exentos del quebrantamiento humano, que se expresa a través de inseguridades personales, sentimientos de inferioridad y la necesidad de amor, la cual a menudo seduce a los ministros a abandonar sus dones espirituales y su llamado ministerial por una gratificación física, sexual, emocional o financiera de corta duración. Algunos, cegados por su ruptura personal, pueden ignorar las señales previas, manteniéndolas ocultas o creyendo que pueden superarlas por sí solos. Pero muchos ministros carecen de la formación personal para prevalecer sobre sus rupturas. En consecuencia, no buscan ayuda. Por otro lado, algunos que son conscientes de sus dilemas personales carecen de las herramientas para superarlos. Estos ministros y pastores lideran la iglesia. ¿Qué es la Resiliencia?

En una entrevista con Rich Heffern, Robert J. Wicks explica que “la resiliencia es la capacidad de enfrentar, aprender y no ser aplastado por los desafíos y las tensiones de la vida.” [1] Maleabilidad, flexibilidad, elasticidad, agilidad, capacidad de recuperación, resistencia, fortaleza y fuerza —cada sinónimo de resiliencia sugiere la capacidad de soportar presiones, tensiones y desafíos como las pruebas del ministerio. Después de todo, el ministerio requiere resiliencia para continuar a largo plazo. Timoteo, el pastor joven de la iglesia en Éfeso, recibió el encargo de mantenerse sobrio en toda situación, soportar las dificultades, hacer la obra de evangelista y cumplir con todos los deberes de su ministerio (2 Tim. 4:5). [2] Este encargo debe cumplirse, y con ello será más eficaz una vez que el pastor identifique aquellos elementos en su carácter y su vida, que socavan el éxito.

The Reach Center

hispanos del siglo veintiuno. Preparando a la Generación de Relevo: No hay Éxito sin un Sucesor

Una de las mayores satisfacciones del ministerio es saber que el avance evangelístico que hemos alcanzado nos va a sobrevivir. La iglesia que en un tiempo se sembró con grandes esfuerzos y muchas lágrimas seguirá abierta y relevante siempre y cuando el pastor tenga el cuidado de preparar sucesores que sigan corriendo con la visión.

Como en una carrera de relevos, el corredor lleva el testigo, elemento que representa la transición fluída entre corredores y la continuidad, y lo pasa con cuidado al siguiente miembro del equipo. En el ministerio, el testigo es la antorcha encendida del evangelio. El pastor es el corredor principal que entrena a los que han de continuar y permite que estos corran a la par de él o ella para no perder impulso. En el momento oportuno, el siguiente corredor toma la antorcha y continúa.

La sustentabilidad de cada congregación depende de la capacidad de preparar a otros para la Gran Comisión. El ejemplo supremo lo tenemos en nuestro Señor Jesucristo quien preparó a doce discípulos para que iniciaran la magna tarea de evangelizar a la humanidad. En Juan 14:12, Jesús les dijo: “De cierto, de cierto os digo: El que en mí cree, las obras que yo hago, él las hará también; y aun mayores hará, porque yo voy al Padre.” Jesús sabía que la Gran Comisión requeriría que el mensaje fuera predicado hasta los confines de la tierra, por lo tanto habría que capacitar a muchos mensajeros capaces de mutiplicarse en otros.

Hoy, el Señor nos llama a multiplicarnos y a continuar con el proceso que inició con Cristo hasta nuestro presente: De Cristo a sus discípulos, de los discípulos a Bernabé, de Bernabé a Pablo, de Pablo a Timoteo y a muchas personas confiables tales como Lidia, Febe, Tito, Priscila y Aquila, y de ellos a nosotros. De esta manera, la Iglesia ha seguido vigente en cada generación. Estimado Pastor/a, ¿Qué estás haciendo para preparar a tu sucesor/a? Te animo a que no te limites. Multiplícate en muchos y envíalos. Confía que mayores cosas harán en el nombre de Jesús.

Invitación a una Revolución

¿Cuándo nos volvimos aburridos? ¿Cuándo decidimos que lo suficientemente bueno ya era suficiente? ¿Cuándo llegamos a creer que morir fielmente era más valioso que vivir fielmente? ¿Cómo llegamos hasta aquí?

Venimos de una herencia rica que derriba barreras, supera expectativas y hace lo que nunca antes se había hecho. Pero, de alguna manera, nos hemos dejado domesticar… amansar. Sin embargo, la naturaleza salvaje y desenfrenada del Espíritu sigue fluyendo en nosotros, deseando llevarnos más allá de lo natural al encuentro de lo sobrenatural.

Como pentecostales, nuestras raíces nos llevan a Agnes Ozman, quien valientemente entró en algo nuevo al ser la primera en hablar en lenguas durante el avivamiento en Topeka, Kansas — un fuego que encendió un avivamiento que luego se extendió a muchos otros lugares. William Seymour entró en un nuevo ambiente para hacer algo nuevo en el Reino de Dios. El racismo le impidió entrar al salón de clases, así que escuchó desde el pasillo. El avivamiento de la Calle Azusa fue el epicentro de las nuevas cosas que Dios estaba haciendo, marcado por una diversidad cultural y étnica casi inaudita en aquellos tiempos.

Nuestra herencia pentecostal trata de avanzar hacia lo nuevo que Dios tiene para nosotros.

En las Asambleas de Dios, nuestros cimientos fueron puestos por hombres y mujeres dispuestos a hacer lo que nunca se había hecho antes.

Las primeras estaciones cristianas de radio y televisión fueron fundadas por ministros de las AD. Estos ministros revolucionaron la educación cristiana con uno de los primeros programas de educación a distancia en el mundo. Fueron pioneros en ministrar a sordos, ciegos y personas con necesidades especiales. Un ministro de las AD cambió nuestra forma de pensar sobre la libertad del abuso de sustancias, desarrollando estrategias para ayudar a personas a escapar de sus adicciones. Las AD han sido parte de un cambio importante en la forma en que se hacen las misiones, al capacitar a personas dentro de sus propias culturas para conectar el Evangelio de forma auténtica. Como hispanos en las Asambleas de Dios, tenemos un conjunto de pioneros y líderes que nos representan.

El Dr. Jesse Miranda elevó el nivel de las expectativas educativas y visibilidad de los ministros hispanos.

José Giron y Demetrio Bazán impulsaron nuestro movimiento más allá de los límites conocidos. Giron promovió multiplicar líderes y dividir la autoridad, y Bazán, al seguir el llamado de Dios en un sueño, dejó Texas para plantar una iglesia en Denver — empujándonos hacia el propósito.

Y un niño de 14 años en Ricardo, Texas, quien solo llevaba 10 días de convertido, comenzó todo cuando escuchó el llamado de Dios para alcanzar a los hispanos con el Evangelio. Fue de casa en casa diciendo lo único que sabía decir en español: “Domingo, por la tarde, en la escuela.”

Tenemos el ADN espiritual de gigantes y héroes. Nuestros antecesores nunca aceptaron el statu quo. Crearon nuevas realidades. Hombres y mujeres valientes derramaron lágrimas y hasta su sangre para traernos hasta aquí. Sería la mayor falta de respeto hacia ellos si eligiéramos vivir y liderar como creyentes domesticados.

A veces nos preocupa ir más allá de nuestras tradiciones, pero venimos de una línea larga de innovadores y pioneros. La innovación es nuestra tradición. Lo poco convencional es nuestra tradición. Hacer algo nuevo es nuestra tradición. Nacimos para salir y entrar a algo nuevo. Fuimos creados con las huellas de la valentía y el coraje. Hacer algo menor violaría nuestra herencia y lo que Dios nos creó para ser.

A través de la creación del AG Hispanic REACH Center, entramos en este momento — una chispa con el poder de encender un fuego nuevo y avivar las llamas de la innovación y el avance como nunca antes en nuestra generación. Tenemos la oportunidad de unirnos a esos gigantes de la fe que hicieron lo imposible antes que nosotros.

No podemos esperar a que surja un héroe mitológico que nos defienda, así que debemos decidir entre nosotros que vamos a permanecer juntos. Juntos podemos hacer más de lo que podríamos hacer separados. “Nosotros” siempre es más grande que “yo.” Si ponemos nuestra mirada en las posibilidades de nuestra unidad, podremos ver milagros.

Si esto suena como el lenguaje de una revolución, es porque eso es precisamente lo que es. No es una invitación a rebelarse contra las autoridades superiores, sino un llamado a repudiar el aislamiento y la visión estrecha. Esta revolución trata de retornar al audaz espíritu de nuestras raíces. De abrazar la naturaleza innovadora y creativa de nuestros primeros líderes. Esta es una revolución contra lo promedio... contra la mera supervivencia.

Esta es una revolución contra lo natural para que podamos abrazar e habitar lo sobrenatural. Mientras nos mantenemos unidos bajo el paraguas del AG Hispanic REACH Center, vemos pastores saludables liderando iglesias saludables y impactando sus comunidades para Cristo. Esta es la revolución sobrenatural para volver a nuestras raíces y caminar juntos en unidad que necesitamos, y es la que creo que veremos.

Más allá del Paradigma: Liderando el Cambio Generacional

El ministerio hoy es más desafiante que nunca, pero no estamos empezando desde cero. Edificamos sobre el legado de quienes fueron fieles antes que nosotros. Sin embargo, en medio de un mundo cambiante, vale la pena preguntarnos: ¿si el mayor obstáculo para el crecimiento futuro de nuestras iglesias no es una pérdida de misión, sino los paradigmas a los que nos aferramos sin darnos cuenta?

Muchas de nuestras estructuras ministeriales, diseñadas con buena intención en otra época, podrían estar dificultando el desarrollo de la siguiente generación de líderes bilingües y biculturales que Dios está levantando hoy. Honramos el pasado, pero también debemos mirar hacia el futuro.

¿Estamos dispuestos a considerar un cambio de paradigma que honre nuestras raíces y, al mismo tiempo, abrace con valentía la diversidad de nuestras comunidades presentes y futuras?

Nuestros reglamentos, visión, valores y declaraciones de misión bien pensados y bien escritos son claros; pero nuestros paradigmas, a menudo, resuenan más. A pesar de los documentos que nos guían, los pastores y ministros suelen operar a partir de un paradigma no escrito transmitido por generaciones anteriores, que refleja más que nuestras creencias teológicas; también abarca elementos de convicción personal, valores y cultura. Los paradigmas dentro de nuestras iglesias dan forma a nuestro enfoque ministerial y juegan un papel clave en el futuro de nuestras congregaciones. Como sugiere Mark Lau Branson, sin autoconciencia, corremos el riesgo de malinterpretar a los demás y subestimar la influencia de nuestra herencia en nuestra percepción, pensamiento y acciones.

Tal vez es tiempo de reinterpretar cómo se ve un ministerio éxitoso, fructífero y relevante en el contexto de la próxima generación. La próxima generación ofrece nuevas perspectivas moldeadas por diversas experiencias culturales. Aprecian su herencia hispana, las tradiciones, el idioma, los valores, pero muchos piensan, hablan y sueñan en inglés. A nuestra generación joven le encantan los chilaquiles hechos por mamá los domingos por la tarde, pero son igualmente felices comiendo una rebanada de pizza de pepperoni después de la iglesia. En casa, sus padres les recuerdan que saluden respetuosamente a sus mayores con un firme apretón de manos, pero en la escuela, es más probable que escuchen un "¿Qué onda?" casual o un choque de puños rápido. Muchos hablan español con fluidez cuando hablan con sus padres o piden conchas en la panadería local, sin embargo, en las discusiones de clase, proyectos en grupo y publicaciones en las redes sociales, el inglés es su idioma preferido. Nuestros jóvenes encarnan dos mundos e intentan honrar a ambos sin sentir que tienen que elegir uno sobre el otro.

¿Qué podemos hacer nosotros? Trabajar para cerrar la brecha cultural entre generaciones, particularmente abordando el cambio del español al inglés, cada vez más dominante entre los miembros más jóvenes. La afirmación de estos cambios culturales entre nuestros líderes emergentes crea una conexión. Afirmar la cultura cambiante no significa abandonar la doctrina; en cambio, implica transmitirla de una manera que resuene de manera efectiva. Nuestros jóvenes buscan mentores que estén comprometidos con la orientación, no con el control. Si invertimos tiempo, escuchamos bien y modelamos la fe en acción, la Generación Z se sentirá vista, apoyada y conectada. La iglesia prospera cuando la tradición se combina con la innovación.

Muchos ministros con experiencia se encuentran en una encrucijada. Han entregado su vida al servicio de la iglesia, pero ahora el camino se ve borroso. Están cansados. Los modelos ministeriales que antes funcionaban ya no conectan. El fuego parece haberse apagado.

¿Cómo puede un ministro volver a recobrar el entusiasmo y fuego del ministerio—esta vez con claridad fresca, nuevas fuerzas y una visión contextualizada para el presente?

Una Reflexión Honesta

Comienza con espacio para respirar y procesar. Abordar el peso emocional y espiritual del agotamiento—duelo, fatiga, desilusión, e incluso frustración. A través de principios bíblicos, mentoría personalizada y dirección espiritual, redescubrirás los valores que te llamaron al ministerio desde el principio.

Quizás la parte más poderosa es volver a soñar nuevamente con lo que el ministerio puede ser para ti. A través de ejercicios guiados y mentoría, identificarás tus fortalezas, renovarás tu pasión y explorarás cómo Dios podría estar llamándote a una nueva temporada—ya sea iniciando algo nuevo, asumiendo un rol diferente o transformando tu contexto actual con nueva visión.

Un "Tú" Renovado

Al tomar estos pasos, no solo tendrás una visión más clara, sino también un plan de acción, con el Reach Center tendrás una red de apoyo con otros que han recorrido el mismo camino, y saldrás equipado con las herramientas necesarias para liderar con resiliencia en un mundo que necesita líderes sanos y fieles más que nunca.

La Importancia de la Conciencia Intercultural en Nuestras Iglesias

La conciencia intercultural en las iglesias hoy se refiere al reconocimiento, entendimiento y aprecio intencional de los diversos trasfondos culturales representados dentro de una congregación o comunidad.

Va más allá de simplemente tolerar al otro: implica fomentar relaciones auténticas, un diálogo respetuoso y prácticas inclusivas que reflejen la unidad y la diversidad del Cuerpo de Cristo.

En nuestro mundo cada vez más globalizado, las iglesias están volviéndose más culturalmente diversas. Personas de diferentes naciones, grupos étnicos, idiomas, tradiciones y cosmovisiones se reúnen bajo un mismo techo para adorar. Esta diversidad es tanto un regalo como una responsabilidad. Tener conciencia intercultural significa reconocer que cada cultura aporta expresiones únicas de fe, estilos de adoración, perspectivas teológicas y valores comunitarios. Estas diferencias pueden enriquecer a la iglesia, pero también generan desafíos que requieren madurez espiritual, humildad y un discipulado intencional.

La conciencia intercultural en la iglesia está enraizada en principios bíblicos. Las Escrituras enseñan que todos los seres humanos fueron creados a imagen de Dios (Génesis 1:27) y que el evangelio es para toda nación, tribu, pueblo y lengua (Apocalipsis 7:9). El apóstol Pablo enfatizó la eliminación de barreras culturales y étnicas en Cristo, declarando: “Ya no hay judío ni griego, esclavo ni libre, hombre ni mujer, sino que todos ustedes son uno solo en Cristo Jesús” (Gálatas 3:28). La iglesia primitiva en sí misma era una comunidad intercultural, aprendiendo a navegar las tensiones entre judíos, gentiles, griegos, romanos y otros a través del poder del Espíritu Santo.

Hoy, la conciencia intercultural llama a las iglesias a examinar sus estructuras de liderazgo, prácticas de adoración, métodos de enseñanza y alcance comunitario para asegurarse de que no están favoreciendo sin querer una cultura sobre otras. Significa crear espacio para voces diversas en la toma de decisiones, incorporar expresiones culturales variadas en la adoración y la música, y aprender de las experiencias vividas de los demás. También implica enfrentar los prejuicios implícitos, desmantelar desigualdades sistémicas y promover la reconciliación donde existen heridas históricas.

Las iglesias que son culturalmente conscientes cultivan intencionalmente ambientes donde todas las personas se sientan vistas, escuchadas y valoradas. Esto puede incluir ofrecer servicios en varios idiomas, celebrar diferentes festividades culturales, formar grupos pequeños multiculturales o proporcionar recursos educativos sobre competencia cultural y antirracismo. Los líderes muchas veces necesitan capacitación en comunicación intercultural y resolución de conflictos. La conciencia intercultural también impacta la misión y la evangelización. Las iglesias que son culturalmente sensibles están mejor equipadas para compartir el evangelio de una manera contextual, apropiada y respetuosa. También tienen mayor capacidad de formar alianzas significativas con comunidades locales y globales, alejándose de una mentalidad colonial y acercándose a una de aprendizaje mutuo y colaboración.

La conciencia intercultural en las iglesias es una forma de honrar el mosaico del pueblo de Dios. Requiere un compromiso constante de aprender, escuchar y amar a través de las diferencias culturales. Cuando se adopta plenamente, produce un testimonio más vibrante, unificado y profético ante el mundo—una muestra del Reino celestial donde todas las naciones adoran juntas ante el trono de Dios en armonía. La conciencia intercultural en la iglesia no es solo una idea moderna; es profundamente bíblica y esencial para comunidades saludables centradas en Cristo. Las siguientes razones explican por qué es importante y cómo impacta la vida y la misión de la iglesia:

1. Refleja el Reino de Dios

• Fundamento bíblico: Apocalipsis 7:9 describe una visión celestial de “una gran multitud… de toda nación, tribu, pueblo y lengua” adorando ante el trono de Dios.

Celebrar eventos y tradiciones culturales con sensibilidad bíblica.
Ofrecer capacitación sobre competencia cultural y antirracismo.
Predicar y enseñar mensajes que afirmen el amor de Dios por todas las naciones.
